Materials to create your own fofucha doll

I have been making fofucha dolls for over a year now and I love it!
For me it’s relaxing and a fantastic way to create perfect gifts for kids and adults, in an unexpensive way. And usually the reaction I get from people is more than great. They appreciate the effort and the time put into making this dolls. After all, once you have all the basic materials that you need, each fofucha dolls costs very little to make and it reflects love and consideration.
When the first fofucha doll was getting popular, people would try to make them as similar as possible as the person who was going to recieve it as a gift. With the similar color hair, eyes, uniform as your job, etc.
I, personally prefer to make something that just comes to mind. A fairy fofucha princess, or a Minion…
I recommend you to try and create your own fofucha doll. I’ve put together a list of the most important materials you will need to start creating your own doll and some list on where to buy it from in Amazon. Start today and have fun.

1. Foamy of several colors:

2. Glue gun

A good glue gun is basic. Not neccessarily the most expensive ones would be the best. In my personal experience it’s better to get a small glue gun specific for artds and crafts. The big professional glue guns get too hot and it would be very easy to burn your fingers. If the glue gun is too cheap, sometimes it starts leaking silicone all over the place, and your working surface will be very dirty. So, the recommendation here is to get a good small size glue gun, I hope you like this ones below:

3. Glue sticks or/and instant glue for foamy

The foamy is glued usually with a hot glue gun to make fofucha dolls. I sometimes use instant glue to add the little details to the shoes or the hair. The hot gun can be messy for small areas, but is the perfect tool to use when we are creating the head, the face, the hair, the body and putting together the arms and legs. Also, fofucha dolls are usually glued to a base (which can be an old cd), and to secure the doll to a base is better to use the hot glue gun.

4. Brushes

We are going to need good brushes to carefuly color the eyes of the fofucha doll with the acrilic paints.

For the eyes of the fofucha dolls we have two options, one (the easy option) is to get some plastic arts and crafts eyes and glue them on the face of the doll. The other option, which is much nicer (in my opinion), is to draw the eyes and paint them. There are a lot of videos on youtube on how to paint fofucha’s eyes. Te result is beautiful. Just draw with a pencil two circles at equal distance in the face of the doll, the paint all white with acrilic paint, let it dry. Now pain the color of the eye, using blue, green, brown, even a light lilac can be very original for the iris. Then add black to the center with the back of the pencil, where the rubber is, wet it in blak paint and use it, if you are better at painting use a small brush for the black part. Let it dry. The finish touch is a point of white paint in the center of the blak part to seem like the reflection of the light in her eyes. And you should have a beautiful eyes. After that, use a very fine permanent marker to finish the edges of the eyes and the details of the mouth and cheeks.

I would recommend a good selection of thin brushes like the ones in the list below:

5. Permanent markers:

The permanent markers are used to draw the edges of the eyes, the eyebrows, the mouth.

I, personally, think that the finishing touches in the fofucha doll is what makes them so special. And the permanent marker gives us that, Draw the eyes lashes, the eyebrows and the mouth with a good quality permanent marker is much more important than anything else. It will make the doll stand up with a personality of its own.

You can use white typpex to add the shine on the eyes, or a bits of color in the cheeks. Use the tips of an skewers to add the small ponint of white in the cheeks and it gives a very cute look to the fofucha dolls.

6. Acrilic paints:

The acrilic paints are used in the eyes. We nomally just need white for the eyes, blue, green, brown and black.

7. Scissors

Scissors are basics in any crafty work. Get a good pair, but not too expensive, because the foamy makes them lose their sharpeness. So, pretty much, any ok pair of scissors is good for the job.

Just an advice, when cutting foamy, always sustain them straight, because if you don’t, the thick foamy will get shaped in a funny angle at the edges and the results will not be as pretty as it can be.

8. Iron

The iron is used to heat up the foamy enough to be moldeable around the polysterin balls and form the head and the hair of the fofucha doll. We need a basic iron machine in our working table to use it ocassionally, when we are making the heads of the fofucha dolls and the shoes.

9. Eyes

As I said before, there is an easy option for the eyes, just glue them on and the doll could see.

10. Skewers sticks

We will need skewers, wooden ones, to stick the head of the fofucha doll to the body, and to make the legs and arms. They are very usefull for other parts aswell, like a swing, or a snowman sustaining a lamp,etc.. They’re very cheap and we will need them.

11. Books:

12. Punching machine shapes

This punching machines are quite usefull. It’s nice to put a flower or a small decorations in the joints of the foamy, so we can not see where it came together the two edges. For exxample, in the heads of the fofucha dolls, I usually put a color band around the hair. I start in a top left or right area of the head, and join it there. To cover the joint, I add a flower or a bow. We can use small scraps of foamy to make little decorations that will add those important finishing touches.

12. Polystyrene balls

The polystyrene balls are used to form the head, the body and the shoes of a fofucha doll. We use one medium size for the head, the 70 mm ones are good size. Then half or a whole ball will be the bottom, glued to the body, and the small polystyrene balls are used to make the shoes. I use two different sizes, 30  and 40 mm, cut a small edge of each one, glue them with the hot gun and then with a sharp cutter, cut it in half and there you will have the two shoes.

For the base of the dolls you can go wild with your imagination.

My most brilliant idea was using a small plastic jewerly box for the base of my doll. I sat her on top and the result was a very useful and gorgeous gift.
